Conditions/General Information

Asia (Nepal)

In Nepal, we trek from hut to hut and take our meals there. The food is nutritious, easy to digest and healthy. It consists mainly of vegetarian rice dishes, potatoes, noodles and fresh vegetable. Cheese and eggs are available as well. A thermos or water bottle is necessary for the trail. You only need to carry your light personal belongings needed for the day. All other material (spare clothes, sleeping bags, tents, kitchen equipment etc.), packed in sea bags (duffel bags), is carried along by a porters. A small medicine box is carried. A personal first aid kit is necessary for each member.

Europe (Romania, Italy, Switzerland)

On the cultural treks in Europe, we will use the huts and local homes as well as hotels. In Romania, full board is included. At Lake Garda, we stay in the same local inn (type Agritur) for the whole week. On Monte Rosa Circuit, we move from hut to hut. On those treks, breakfast and dinner is included only in the offer.

Provisional status

Under normal circumstances, all the order of trekking days will be as per the printed and published programme. Nevertheless they have a provisional status, as delayed flights, bad weather conditions, illness, snow on high passes, broken roads and paths, landslides, missing bridges, administrative hurdles and greater local festivals or unfavourable political disturbances can lead to delays, postponement or alteration of the planned route.

General requirements

The treks in Nepal is of medium difficulty (for experienced hikers), it is however not exhaustive, but altitudes of more than 3000 meters will be reached. Nevertheless all individual trekking-days are quite easy to cope with. The rules for high altitude acclimatisation are followed eagerly.

The cultural treks in Europe are shorter and hotels and huts are more comfortable. However, the difference in altitude and the stamina needed can be compared with a trek in the Himalayas. The distances are calculated based on maps and the time needed during the last trek in the same area. An average trekker covers roughly 3 km per hour on such a tour.

Following requirements are necessary for the participation of this trek: good health, good physical condition, stamina, experience in high altitude trekking, tolerance, you need to be free from giddiness and should have interest in the culture of a foreign world and respect the people. This trek

is a pure walk; no technical difficulties will be encountered. Persons who suffer from a sickness, during which the regular consumption of medicines is necessary, should to consult their doctor in order to get a confirmation that their participation on one of these treks may not cause any further harm.
